AI Visibility Audit

AI Visibility Audit

Get cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. A structured audit of where your brand shows up in AI answers — and exactly what to fix.

Get Started

Buyers are researching inside ChatGPT and Perplexity before they ever land on Google. If your brand does not get cited when an AI answers a question in your category, you never enter the consideration set. This is not hypothetical — it is happening now, on every buying-intent query.

AI visibility is different from SEO. LLMs pick a small number of sources per answer, quote them verbatim, and cite them by name. Getting picked depends on things Google does not care about: llms.txt files, passage-level structure, AI crawler access (CCBot, GPTBot, PerplexityBot), and entity signals.

This audit tells you where you stand across every major AI engine for your top commercial queries, why (or why not) you are being cited, and a prioritized fix list. Two to three weeks. PDF report. A 30-minute walkthrough. Optional implementation.

We have run this on client sites where the AI Overview referral needle moved within a quarter. The playbook is real, and it stacks with traditional SEO — most of the fixes help both.

What Getting Cited by AI Actually Buys You

AI answer engines are the new zero-click layer. If ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews cannot name you, you are not in the consideration set — the sale is already decided before the buyer opens a browser tab.

What You Get

AI Answer Presence

For each of your top commercial queries: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Bing Copilot — cited, mentioned, or invisible?

AI Crawler Readiness

robots.txt access for CCBot, GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot. Blocking these blocks you from the training and retrieval loop.

Passage-Level Citability

Are your key claims structured as clean, self-contained passages an LLM can lift? Or buried in floaty marketing prose?

llms.txt & AI Manifest

The emerging spec for telling LLMs what your site is about. Presence, structure, and coverage checked and shipped.

Structured Data Coverage

Organization, Product, Service, FAQPage, HowTo, Article — every schema type an LLM uses to build a factual answer.

Entity Consistency

How your brand is described across the web — Wikipedia, Wikidata, LinkedIn, GBP, review sites. Inconsistency kills recall.

Competitor Citation Map

For every query, we log the 3-5 sources actually being cited today. If it is not you, we tell you why it is them — and what to close.

Prompt-Testing Playbook

Same query, four engines, three phrasings. We test the way real buyers ask — not just the SEO-shaped version — and flag where you fall out.

Engines, Bots & Standards We Cover

The complete map of what LLMs read, how they retrieve, and where they answer. If it moves AI visibility, we test for it.

AI Citation Tracking, Built In

When you take implementation, we wire ongoing AI-answer tracking into an admin panel — so you see mentions across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews without logging into three separate tools.

Marketing panel with AI Citations tab tracking mentions across LLMs

AI Citations tab — LLM mentions in one view

The right-most tab surfaces where LLMs are (and are not) citing you. Tracked alongside backlinks, GBP, YouTube, and social — because AI visibility is now a marketing channel, not an SEO afterthought.

Admin SEO panel with editable business identity fields controlling site-wide schema.org markup

SEO — entity + schema editable live

The audit tells you what to fix; this is where it ships. LocalBusiness + Organization JSON-LD, canonical, sitemap, llms.txt — every entity field editable from a real form. No file edits, no redeploys for identity changes.

Admin analytics view with visitor time-series chart and referral source breakdown including AI engines

Analytics — AI referral traffic segmented

ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Bing Copilot pass a referrer when they send traffic. First-party analytics segments those visits so you can see exactly which AI engine is actually driving leads.

How It Works

01

Query List

Together we pick 15-25 commercial queries an AI engine would answer about your category. We test every one across every engine.

Discovery Scan

We audit your site for AI crawler access, passage structure, schema, llms.txt, and entity signals. Compare against the 3-5 sources actually being cited today.

03

Prioritized Report

PDF deliverable: current state, gaps, and a fix list ordered by impact-per-effort. Followed by a 30-minute call to walk through it.

04

Implementation (Optional)

You take the report and fix it internally, or we implement — llms.txt, schema, passage rewrites, crawler config, entity cleanup. Starts at $2,500.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tap any question to expand.

What is AI visibility (and why does it matter)?

AI visibility is how often ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews cite your website in their answers. It matters because a growing share of buyer research now starts inside an AI chat instead of a Google search. If your competitors get cited and you do not, they get the lead. This audit tells you where you stand across every major AI engine and what to fix.

How is this different from regular SEO?

Traditional SEO optimizes for ten blue links on a Google results page. AI visibility (also called GEO — generative engine optimization) optimizes for a single answer generated from many sources. That changes what matters: structured passages an LLM can lift verbatim, clear entity data, llms.txt files, and access for AI crawlers like CCBot, GPTBot, and PerplexityBot. Regular SEO helps but is not enough.

What does the audit actually check?

Presence in AI answers across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Bing Copilot for your top commercial queries. AI crawler access (robots.txt entries for CCBot, GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot). llms.txt file structure. Passage-level citability — whether your key claims are structured for an LLM to lift as a quote. Structured data completeness. Entity mentions and consistency across the web. Deliverables: PDF report with findings, prioritized fix list, and a 30-minute walkthrough call.

Will this help my Google rankings too?

Usually yes. Most AI-visibility fixes — clean structured data, faster pages, clearer entity signals, better internal linking — also help traditional SEO. Google AI Overviews now appear on the same results page as blue links, so ranking well and getting cited are increasingly the same job.

How do you measure whether it worked?

We track three things: (1) mentions of your brand across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews for your target queries, (2) referral traffic from AI engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Bing Copilot pass a referrer), and (3) branded search volume in Google Search Console. The audit sets the baseline. If you take implementation, we re-measure quarterly.

Can you also implement the fixes, or is this audit-only?

Both. The base engagement is audit-only ($1,500) — you get the report and can hand it to your team. Implementation is a separate scope starting at $2,500 (llms.txt, structured data, passage rewrites, crawler access, breadcrumbs). Most clients pick both together as a bundle.

Do you track ongoing AI mentions after the audit?

Yes, if you want it. We wire an AI-citations panel into an admin dashboard (same pattern as the marketing panel on this site) that pings ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Bing Copilot on your target queries on a weekly cadence and stores a mention history. You see when you start getting cited and when a competitor takes the slot.

What is llms.txt and do I really need one?

llms.txt is an emerging spec for telling LLMs what your site is about — think robots.txt but structured for retrieval and reasoning. It surfaces your most citable pages, entity data, and a plain-English summary of what you do. Adoption is early but growing fast (Anthropic, OpenAI, Perplexity are all engaging with it), and it costs almost nothing to ship. Every site we build now gets one.

Do you work with non-Vegas clients?

Yes. Local SEO is location-bound, but AI visibility is not — LLMs pull from the whole web, and buyers ask AI engines about products and services from anywhere. Most AI-visibility clients are national or global. We currently have audit clients in health, e-commerce, SaaS, and professional services across the US.
